The Tricky Business of Wedding Tipping

Updated: Aug 9, 2019

We find a lot of our clients are confused about how much to tip each vendor who has helped to make their wedding the best ever. Well it is tricky, but it doesn't have to be. We are hoping with a few pointers, it will make your decision on how much to tip your team easier.

Decision...you mean tipping is an exact number?

That's right, while paying gratuities at weddings for services has become more of a custom (like in most hospitality industries), it isn't mandatory. Our tipping guide is to provide assistance in deciding what may or may not be appropriate when tipping the team who helped pull together your wedding. Tips are considered a nice surprise by many vendors and we are appreciative of the gesture. If you don't have the money to pay out more on tips, there are a few gestures that will go a long way with your team of wedding pros.

- Send a handwritten thank-you note after the wedding.

- An amazing thing you can do is find out where they have an online presence and write glowing reviews on their excellent service on every platform. (Wedding Wire, The Knot, Yelp, Tag on Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, etc.) You can copy and paste the same review to make this easier.

- The best non monetary gratuity is referring your vendors to your friends!

But if you do have some room in your budget, here is what we have found is standard. Best of luck!!
