Grooming Tips for the Groom

You have popped the question, told all your friends and have starting making progress on planning your wedding. However, you are probably seeing the long list of to-dos in front of you and feeling a little overwhelmed at where to begin. Regardless of where you are in your wedding planning process, it’s safe to say that you’re probably experiencing a range of emotions. With everything that goes into planning a wedding - choosing the theme, creating a budget, applying for a marriage license, maintaining your sanity - stress and overwhelm are completely normal feelings!

Ladies get a lot of attention during wedding planning, but sometimes we have to give a little extra love to our men. So even though our goal is to provide you some tips that will help the fellas ease some of these feelings and feel more wedding day ready, women can absolutely benefit from them as well. From cranking up your fitness routine to investing in a professional shave to tips on how to make hair thicker for men, take a look at some grooming tips that every soon-to-be-husband should know.

Exercise and eat well

Stressful times call for moving your body and eating healthy. Now, of course, wedding planning isn’t all stressful. Your wedding day is exciting and one of the happiest moments of your life! But even a little stress and overwhelm can do a number on you, physically and mentally. So make sure you’re still prioritizing your fitness with a regular workout routine and healthy eating.

Now, we’re not saying to go crazy with it - everything in moderation! But even just going for a run or to the gym a few times a week will get your endorphins going, which will help you feel more positive and less stressed during this time.

Prioritize skincare

If you don’t already have a skincare routine, there’s no better time than now to start getting into a skincare regime. Try using a good-quality face cleanser and a moisturizer every night before bed to help prevent any pre-wedding breakouts or dry skin. You’ll be surprised at just how big of a difference a little daily cleansing and moisturizing can make. This is especially important right now with wearing masks. Make sure to wash your masks frequently and wash your face when you get home & before you go to bed. Mascne is a real thing!

Get a Hair Cut

When it’s time to trim your hair before your wedding, we recommend visiting a salon at least a few weeks in advance to make sure you & your fiancé are pleased with the results. This will give you time to plan on how you want to style your hair and to choose a salon that works for you. After all, the last thing you want is to try a new style the day before your wedding and have it go wrong!

Our grooms in the past have asked us about what products to use. If you’re looking for tips on how to make hair thicker for men, one of the best things you can do is invest in a top-notch thickening shampoo. It’s also worth practicing how to work products like mousse and gels to help give the appearance of thicker hair.

Get a Professional Shave

Speaking of hair, your wedding day may be one of the very few days in your life when you’ll want to go to a professional for a shave. A salon shave will truly be the finishing touch to give you a clean, classy look for your wedding day. Whether you have a full beard that needs to be refined or you want a clean-cut, we strongly recommend going to a professional for this one like TrueMen Barber Shop in Culver City or The Handlebar Barbershop & Apothecary in Thousand Oaks, CA. Because nothing beats the luxury a premium shave with a hot towel and lathering up with a badger hair brush (so we've been told!)

Now for my absolute favorite pro-tip...

Treat yourself to a Massage

Being at your best on your wedding day isn’t only physical appearance, but also about your overall well being. It’s also about making sure you feel your best, both physically and mentally. So why not treat yourself to a massage that will help you relax? A couple's Massage the week of your wedding is not only relaxing but sexy, too! Take this time to really check in with yourself and your partner so that you both feel pure excitement and joy when the big day finally arrives. If you are unsure of where to go, Burke Williams Spas are my go to Massage and overall place of Zen.

Hire a Planner

Our last and final tip of the day, is to hire a planner. Obviously, we are big fans of this one. We want to take the burden off your plate. We are told by our clients all the time, "We could not have done this without your help." We know they could, but why would you want to? We can help with anything unexpected along the way as well as issues on your wedding day!

We hope you find a couple ideas on ways to help relax, rejuvenate and get ready for your big day. If you have any questions or want additional ideas, reach out anytime!
