Calamigos Ranch is a gorgeous venue nestled into the Santa Monica Mountains in Malibu, CA. It was established in 1937 as a wellness center and has evolved into a premier wedding & event venue. From large corporate parties to summer camps from mitzvahs to wedding celebrations, they really can host it all onsite.
While Calamigos Ranch doesn’t have ocean views, it does have several amazing sites to host your wedding day that will be nothing short of amazing. And for couples that want to stay onsite for to get ready the day of their wedding or on their wedding night, they also have access to the Calamigos Beach Club with a Restaurant offering beachy vibes & stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
We have been working at Calamigos Ranch since we started our Malibu based wedding planning business in 2016. Last year we had the privilege of hosting many more weddings in every space on the Calamigos Ranch property including the Oak Room, The Redwood Room, The Birchwood Room and the Pavilion! It’s hard to pick a favorite spot, and they made it even harder. We even hosted the wedding of Seattle Marnier’s pitcher Ryan Borcuki in 2022. Our clients were all unique and we were able to create & design the perfect style for each one knowing our starting point was incredible. We partnered with many great vendors including Second Song Entertainment, Leta Verbena Florals, Angel Sheree Photography, DJ Will Gill, Kreative Hands, Great Officiants, In the Mix Events, Pacheco Beauty, Rachel Wakefield Photography, Two of a Kind Rentals and many, many more!
Calamigos Ranch is constantly renovating and they realized they could offer another space that is perfect for smaller more intimate gatherings. So, their newest venue space, The Barn, is located on property across from the Oak Room. The team staggers start times of weddings, so you don’t have guests arriving all at once and confused about where to go. It also minimizes potential issues from competing sound. Although everyone once in a while you may hear the cheers from guests at another wedding when the couple is officially pronounced married by their officiant. The good news is that only adds to the positive energy for your special day! If you prefer to have a more secluded space where it is just your wedding happening onsite, this is not the venue for you, but we can help you find one that is more exclusive!
The Barn was renovated and transitioned to an event space over this past year. It has unique locations that are separated enough to create a natural flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner and of course dancing! They use smaller spaces, so it is something to consider when booking the venue. In general, it is easier to use this space with about 50 guests. If you want to have closer to 100 guests, we highly recommend the Birchwood Room and The Oak Room. The Oak Room you can go up to 150, but 130 is the sweet spot (max in our opinion!) The Pavilion is a great place for larger weddings and the tree for your ceremony is iconic!
